What is the Vulcan Innovation Project?
- An initiative through Vulcan Business Development Society
- The purpose is to enhance the communities in Vulcan County through increased economic development
- We are developing innovative ways to provide trades and skills training programs to the residents of our communities through the use of technology, along with traditional training methods
- We want to build our communities by providing local training opportunities and to open the door for local high quality employment.
- Building the necessary relationships to bring businesses and resources together is a key element in the project.
- Help local businesses and organizations to enhance their use of internet and communication technology
What are we doing to achieve that?
- Work with our partners Lethbridge College and Palliser Regional Schools
- Deliver the Wind Turbine Technician/ Pre-Employment Electrician Program in Vulcan
- Created the Lethbridge College Rural Training Centre at County Central High School
- Held several Basic Welding Workshops using Palliser's’ Mobile Trades Trailers
- Workshops in Brant, Arrowwood, Champion, and Vulcan
- Hosted a Renewable Energy Workshop in Champion
- Installed a WiFi Zone in downtown Vulcan
- Organized Technology Showcases at the Cultural Recreational Centre
- Assist business and organizations throughout the county with their use of technology
- Continue to develop Carpentry, Water Technician, and other programs
- Always looking for new ideas to enhance our communities
- Developed a comprehensive program for developing websites with a $500 voucher for local business and organizations
